wolliges Wochenende mit Patenkind - woolly weekend with godchild

es war ein etwas verspätetes Wochenende, das am Sonntag angefangen hat und erst am Dienstag früh zu Ende ging... Dank der Schulferien.
Angekündigt waren also grade mal anderthalb Tage. Das ist nicht viel Zeit, um ein nie müde werdendes Kind gut zu beschäftigen. Also habe ich mir einen Plan gemacht und diesen recht gut voll gepackt:

It was a late weekend that starts on Sunday and finsihed Tuesday morning... thanks to shool holidays.
Announced were one a half day. Not much time to make with a never tired child. So I made a plan that was almost full:

Ich hatte bei einer der letzten Bestellungen 500gr Lammwolllocken vom Kent Schaf, die wollte ich beizen und Ostereierfarben und Schnee färben. Alles schön kalt, damit ja nix Gefahr läuft, zu filzen.
Außerdem brauche ich mal wieder Filzpantoffeln. Irgendwie halten alle nach meinen allerersten selbst gefilzten Pantoffeln nicht so recht.
Mit meiner neuen Muffin-Form Muffins backen, die hinterher gefüllt werden können. Und falls uns dazwischen oder danach langweilig würde, habe ich ja noch meinen umgebauten Webrahmen, der so halb bespannt rumsteht...
Und: eine Überraschung

With one of my last orders I had a pound Kent lamswoollocks that I would dye in snow with easter egg colors and need pickled before. All cold that nothing can felt.
Also I once more need felting slippers. All I made after my first workshop made ones had not a long life.
With my new muffin tablet I would bake muffins that can be filled then. And if we were boring between or after my loom was waiting with a half of warp...
And: one surprise.

Nach der Ankunft haben wir und bei einer Tasse Kaffee an den Tisch gesetzt und ich habe meinen Plan vorgelegt. Um nichts zu vergessen, habe ich vorher alles schön in ein Kalenderbuch geschrieben und dieses kurzerhand in Besucherbuch umgetauft ☺Hat super funktioniert!

After arriving we sat on the table with a cup of coffee and I showed my plan. That I do not forget something I took a calendar book and renamed it into visiTbook ☺I worked!

 Die Überraschung kam als erstes, weil ein Besuch bei Loreleis Alpakas am Sonntag am besten war. 

The surprise on Loreleis Alpakas came first because of Sunday.

Für einen Spaziergang war es wohl schon zu spät und das Wetter nicht ideal. Aber mit Möhren füttern geht alleweil. Im Sommer ist es länger hell und sicher auch besser, um zu laufen. Aufgeschoben ist also nicht aufgehoben...

For a walk it maybe was too late and the weather not the best. But feed with carrots is a good idea. In summer it is longer lght and better to walk. And postponed is not canceled...

Once more check who disturb. I´m always scared how small they are, but I like them!

Der Tag war noch nicht vorbei. Wenn Wolle kalt bearbeitet werden soll, dauert alles immer ein bissel länger... Also mussten die Lammlocken noch am Abend eingepackt und in die Beize geworfen werden.

The day was not yet gone. With cold working on wool everthing needs a longer time... So the lamslocks need to packed and pickled over night.

Man beachte, dass die Schere zwar nichts taugt, dafür ist sie aber wunderschön grüün!! Das mit dem Knoten ist scheinbar nicht so einfach, wie man das als Erwachsener ohne Nachzudenken macht.
Be noted that the scissor doesn´t work very well but it is beautiful greeen!! That case with the knot seems not so easy as adults do that without thinking about it.

Ich habe vom letzten Jahr noch einmal vorsorglich Ostereierfarben gekauft, da ich ja nicht nur zu Ostern färben will. Die meisten sind in Tablettenform und müssen erst aufgelöst werden. Auch ein Job, der sich über Nacht selber erledigt.
Last year I bought enough Ester egg colors that I can dye with it around the year. The most are tablets that need to dissolve. Also a job that makes itself over night.

Und damit war der Sonntag tatsächlich vorbei.
And with this the Sunday was away.

Am nächsten Morgen sind die Farben aufgelöst und die Wolle (hoffentlich) fertig. Damit alle Farbe, die am Ende durch den getauten Schnee auf die Wolle kommt auch darin hängen bleibt, habe ich die einzelnen Wollpakete in einer Salatschleuder von Flüssigkeit befreit. Schön in Boxen legen, damit oben noch Platz für den Schnee bleibt...
On the next morning the colors and teh wool are ready. That all the color that comes through the melted snow hang on the wool I removed the water with a salad spin. Put into boxes that enough space is in for teh snow...

Die Farben in alte Flaschen füllen, bei denen ich am Abend vorher schonmal ein paar Löcher in die Deckel gebohrt habe und der Spaß kann beginnen

Den Rest Farbe habe ich auf einem anderen Strang Wolle verteilt, der nicht so schön flockig wie die Locken ist. Das wird mich noch ein bissel Arbeit kosten, den vor dem Spinnen wieder etwas aufzulockern.
The rest color I put on a wool that is not so fluffy like the locks. It will need a little work before I can spin it.

Alles vorbereitet, jeder bekommt eine Schale, damit das Seifenwasser nicht überall hinläuft.

Mein Trick, damit das Filzen den Rücken wenigstens ein bisschen schont: Feinstrümpfe drüberziehen und ab in die Waschmaschine!

Die sind ja mal voll hübsch geworden! Eine Blumenwiese für meine andere Nichte, gemacht von ihrer Schwester, einmal bunt mit Monogramm für die Schwägerin und einmal nur Wiese für das Patenkind, bei der die Blumen im Nachhinein aufgenäht, oder gestickt werden.

These are all beautiful! A flower meadow for my niece made from her sister, one pair for my ister in law with monogram and one for the godchild where the flowers will be applicated later.


Zum Muffin backen war ich irgendwie zu müde und auch der Webrahmen steht noch da, wo er stand. Nun ja, dann bleibt noch etwas für das nächste Mal...

For baking muffins I was too tired and also the loom is waiting where it was. Ok, then we have something for teh next time...

und angefangen im alten Jahr hat es mit der zweiten Mütze und dem Schal dazu...

Der gleiche Micky Webstuhl, wie der vom Patenkind und auch mit "normaler" Wolle als Kettgarn haben sich die beiden äußeren Fäden zusammengezogen. Gewebt habe ich ein Köpermuster (2 drunter, 2 drüber immer um eins versetzt), da war der Drehholm nicht hilfreich, ich musste alle mit der Hand hochheben... Aber ich habe so ein paar kleine Ideen, wie man den Webstuhl ein bissel aufpeppen kann, um auch feineres Garn zu verweben und ich habe mir das System abegeguckt, um an meinem großen Webrahmen mal wieder ein bisschen rumzubasteln.

The same Micky loom as for the goodchild and also with "common" yarn the outer threads are shorter and the edges are scrumbeled. Woven a twill (2 over, 2 under always moved aboout one) and the turn holm was not a help. Need to lift all the threads by hand... But I had some small ideas how to pimp this loom to use finer yarn. And I will copy this system to change my older bigger loom.

Als nächstes sind über den Jahreswechsel die ersten der 3 Engelsocken fertig geworden.

Angefangen noch im alten Jahr, gestrickt auch an Syslvester sind sie im neuen Jahr fertig und ich habe gleich mit den nächsten angefangen... es geht grad so gut ☺ 

Started in the old year, knitted over the last day and finished in the new year and I just started with the next pair.

Ein Versuch mehrfarbiges Muster zu stricken. Vor vielen Jahren habe ich  mir mal einen Pullover mit Mustern gestrickt, fand ich nur zeitaufwändig, aber das Ergebnis sehr schön. Inzwischen gibt es angeblich viele Tricks, damit es schneller geht. Ich komme nicht damit zurecht, mir mehr als einen Faden zur selben Zeit durch die Finger laufen zu lassen. Deshalb schaut es auch sehr ungleichmäßig aus. Bei der rechten Kugel dann habe ich es ab der Hälfte so gestrickt, wie ich es früher gemacht habe und siehe da: das Strickbild ist gleichmäßig und glatt!

A trial to knit a 2color pattern. Many years ago I knitted a sweater with 2 colors, was very expensive but beautiful. Meanwhile are a lot of new tools available that should make the knitting life easier. I´m not successful with them. So I switched back after the half on the right one to the old method and have a look: the pattern is even and nice!

500gr Welshwolle sind fertig gesponnen, gezwirnt und gebadet. Und um ehrlich zu sein, ich werde sie noch verstricken und hoffe, das Fusseln hart dann ein Ende! Die kleinen Häärchen, die am Anfang aus der Wolle geschaut haben, sind beim Spinnen, zwirnen, umspulen und überhaupt bei jedem Arbeitsschritt in großen Mengen rausgefallen und mit nichts einzufangen :(
Ich kann kein Garn mehr anfassen, ohne dass mir weiße Haare dazwischen wuseln. Wie gesagt, ich hoffe, der Großteil ist weg und das, was nun noch drin ist, bleibt auch dort.

500g welshwool is spun, twisted and relxed. To be honest I will just knit it and hope that the hairing will be ended then. All the white fibers that looks out at the beginning are falling in any steps like spinning, twisting, plying around and I could not catch them :(
I cannot touch any wool without to have white fibers in. As I said I hope the biggest part is away and the ones that are now just in the yarn will stay there.


Ich hatte mal wieder richtig Glück. Beim Stöbern auf ebay Kleinanzeigen überspringe ich normalerweise die Alpakawolle, weil sie doch recht teuer ist. Aber dieses Mal habe ich ein Schnäppchen gemacht und einen neuen Lieferanten in der Nachbarschaft gefunden. Das Schnäppchen ist noch auf dem Weg zu mir. Den neuen Lieferanten habe ich schon heimgesucht und ausgeraubt, zumindest kommt es mir so vor. ☺

I got real luck. With surfing over ebay small advertisings I jump almost over Alpakawool because it is quite expensive. But this time I made a bargain and I found a new supplier in the neigborhood. The bargain is just on the way to me. The new supplier I visited and robbed I felt. ☺

Pro Farbe ein Kilo Fasern. Alleine beim Reinfassen hat man ein Gefühl, als ob man eine Wolke anfasst, und sie ist kuschelig weich und angenehm warm. Staubiger Schnee, Schokolade und Karamel. Himmlisch. Und wie wahr Lorelei, das Vlies der Götter!

A kilo of any color. Only with diving in it feels like to touch a cloud. It is fluffy soft and beautiful warm. Dusty snow, chocolate and caramel. Heavenly. And you are right Lorelei, it is the fleece of the gods!

Gerade beim Karamel konnte ich mich nicht zurückhalten und habe gleich ein paar Fasern rausgezupft und kardiert.Es hat helle Spitzen, was es zweifarbig aussehen lässt. 

Especially with the caramel I could not stop. picked some fibers and carded them. It has light tiips that it makes it 2colored. 

 Gesponnen, gezwirnt...

... und zum Strang gewickelt erstaunt es mich immer wieder, wie das Garn seine Farbe ändert. Aber es hat seine hellen Stellen behalten und damit seine Lebendigkeit.

Inzwischen auch eine Probe von Schokolade und Schnee gemacht. Alle drei Garne sind (zumindest denke ich das) gleich gesponnen und doch ist jedes anders. Karamell hat sich ein bissel angestellt. Schokolade ging nicht wirklich dünn und ist sehr flauschig und Schnee hat sich sehr lang ausziehen lassen, was es am Ende glatter macht. Alle drei sind auch von der Lauflänge her unterschiedlich. Karamel mit 125m auf 50g, Schokolade ca. 100m/ 100 g und Schnee hat tatsächlich nur 123m und weniger als 50g. Es ist jetzt nach dem Waschen und Trocknen richtig aufgeflufft.

Das Licht zum Fotografieren ist überhaupt nix. Entweder blendet die Sonne, oder es ist so dunkel, dass der Blitz alles zu hell macht.
Aber ich habe schon etwas gefunden, dass ich aus allen drei Stränglein stricke...

In the meantime I also made a test with chocolate and snow. All 3 yarns are (I had the feeling) same spun but any is different. Caramel was little tricky. Chocolate was not possible to spin thin and snow was easy to pull long what it made finer. All three also have a different yardage. Caramel 125m with 50g, chocolate approx 100m with 50g and Snow in fact only 123m with less than 50g. After washing and drying it was fluffed.

The light to make pictures is very bad. Eighter the sun in screening or it is to dark to take pictures without flash what make the pictures and color unreal.
But I found something I will make from this three skeins.

Übrigens muss ich mir wenigstens die Namen der drei Schönheiten merken. Karamel heißt Alarik, nach den anderen beiden muss ich unbedingt noch einmal fragen. Wenn man schon so nah beieinander wohnt, sollte man seine Nachbarn wenigstens mit Namen kennen. Lorelei hat sie mehrfach genannt, aber ich war so fixiert auf die Wolle, dass das irgendwie an mir vorbei gerauscht ist ☺

By the way I minimum must remind the names of these beauties. Caramel is called Alarik. The names of the both other I must request. If we live so close together we should call us with name. Lorelei said the names more than one time but I was so fixed on the wool that it was passing me without catching ☺

Und, yippieh, wir haben endlich mal wieder Schnee im Winter!

And, wahoo, at least we have snow anymore in wintertime!

Vorgestern sind wir zu unserem Fischhändler gefahren. Ich bin mal froh, dass ich bei diesem Wetter nicht selber fahren muss...

Two days ago we were at our fishdealer. I´m once more happy that I don´t need to drive in this weather.

Ich hasse ja Videos, die aus dem Auto heraus gemacht werden und nur die Straße zeigen, aber so kann man das Wetter besser einfangen. Es ist 11 Uhr. Super Wetter um drin zu bleiben und sich mit Freude zu beschäftigen...

I hate videos made out of the car showing only the street. But in this case it is the best way to show the weather. It´s 11.a.m. Super weather to keep inside and play with fun...
