Baumwollplantage - cotton field

Ich spinne nun schon fast ein Jahr, zumindest beschäftige ich mich seit dieser Zeit sehr intensiv damit. Meine Eltern haben ein Stück lang im tropischen Ausland gelebt und mir schöne Sachen mitgebracht unter anderem auch Baumwollbällchen. Fertig ausgereift, aber noch am Stengel. Bisher fand ich es schön, sie als Trocken-Deko in einem Gesteck zu haben. Aber Mutti muss ja alles mal in die Erde stecken und Tochter ist nicht besser. Also habe ich vor ein paar Jahren schon ein paar von den Samen aus dem Wuschel herausgepult und in einen Blumentopf gesteckt. Es hat funktioniert, ist aufgegeangen und hat eine Blüte bekommen und nach dem Aufplatzen der Samenkapsel kam ein weißer Wuschel zum Vorschein. Den allersersten habe ich mit zu meinem Trockengesteck gepackt, damit das nicht so kahl aussieht und es wieder vergessen.

I spin since approximately a year, at least I work intensive on it. My parents lived for a longer time in a tropical country and brought back a lot of nice things inter alia cotton balls. Ready for earning but still in the capsule. Until now I found it nice in a dry flower decoration. But mummy must put all in the earth she can find and daughter ist not really better. So some years ago I pod some of the seeds out of the ball and put in into a pot. And it worked. I got a flower and after opening the capsule a white fleecy ball came out. The real first I put into my dry decoration that it not look so small and forget it again.

Von Zeit zu Zeit fallen mir die Baumwollkapseln wieder in die Hand und ich lege sie an den nächsten Platz, von dem ich meine, dort finde ich sie ganz bestimmt sofort wieder. Aber nun kamen sie genau zum rechten Zeitpunkt. Für den Loki, die ich von Tessa bekommen habe, habe ich mir ein Kardierbrett gekauft, um die Fasern schön gerade zum spinnen in Röllchen zu wickeln. Und dann ist mir die Baumwolle in die Hände gefallen. Du kannst Dir vorstellen, was ich getan habe ... ja, ich habe sie über das Brett gezogen :-)

From time to time the capsules from mummy fell into my hands and I put it into the next edge where I thought here I really will find it if I search for. But now it came back to the right moment. For the second cut Loki I got from Tessa I bought me the blending board, to bring the wool in one direction to make it easier to spin. And then I found again the cotton. You could imagine, what I have done... Yes I tested it on the blending board :-)

Der erste Versuch mit Loki. Inzwischen sind die "Röllchen" etwas dicker, aber nicht größer, mir gefällt diese kleine handliche Form.

... und die Baumwolle, es funktioniert tatsächlich. Sie lässt sich ganz  dünn herausziehen und somit auch verspinnen

Und damit war der diesjährige Pflanzversuch entschieden: es wird Baumwolle

And with this the yearly plant project was decided: it will be cotton

Ich habe also alle meine Samenkapseln geplündert und die Samen herausgepult. 

So I plunder my seed capsules and pod the seed.

es kommen schon Blätter nach nur 3 Tagen!

es geht so wahnsinnig schnell, aber es sind auch Samen dabei, die nicht aufgegangen sind. Ich habe sie mal andersherum in die Erde gesteckt.

ich habe die Haube jetzt nicht mehr aufgesetzt. Ich kann die Pflanzen frühestens im Mai nach draußen stellen, nun ist es erst einmal nicht mehr so eilig

I let the cover away now. I can take out the plants earliest in May, so now I´m not in a hurry

ich denke, nicht alle von den 40 ausgesäten Samen werden kommen. Wenn es nur die Hälfte ist, wird das aber vielleicht auch schon zum spielen reichen.

I think not all of the 40 seeds will live. If only the half come through it will be enough to play

umgetopft, da in den kleinen Töpchen nicht genug Platz war. So ca. 8 Pflänzchen sind nicht aufgegangen oder unterwegs auf der Strecke geblieben

moved to bigger pots as the first ones were to small. Approximately 8 plants are died or were not open.

und wieder 3 Tage später schaut es doch ganz gut aus. Ich denke, 5 von diesen werden es vielleicht nicht schaffen. Aber gezählt wird zum Schluss.

and once again 3 days later it looks not really bad. I think 5 of them will also die, but counted will be at the end.
