Tagesausflug - Daily Excursion

Unser Urlaub war bei beiden überfällig. Im Moment ist die Arbeitslast fast nicht zu bewältigen ohne 2 Köpfe und 4 Paar Arme, die alles auf einmal machen sollen können. Oder: Wir kleinen Indianer müssten alle eierlegende Wollmilchsäue sein.

Our vacation was more than necessary for us both. The workload at the moment is enourmos and cannot solved without 2 heads and 4 pair of arms that make all at once. Or: we small indians should be woolmilksows that lay eggs.

Umso wichtiger ist es, den Kopf frei zu kriegen und etwas entspannter, mit mehr Abstand und dem guten Vorsatz, sich nicht wieder so knechten zu lassen die Arbeit bis ans Ende der freien Zeit zu schieben. Das ist nicht einfach und spätestens nach einer Woche ist man wieder in der alten Tretmühle.

The more impotant it is to clear the head and to move the work onto the end of the free time. More relaxed, with longer distance and good will not be again such slave. It is never easy to hold. Latest after one week we are back in the same pressure mill.

Eigentlich wollte ich ein paar Handarbeiten verfolgen, einige angefangene Dinge vorantreiben, oder abschließen, damit ich mich wohlgemut wieder in etwas Neues stürzen kann.

Usually I would take some time to follow some handcrafts. Started things go forward or finish so that I have the mind free for new ideas and/or projects.

Aber auch mir kam unser Tagesausflug ganz recht. Ein Besuch auf der Burg Lauenstein (hier gibt es einen deutschen Link mit sehr viel mehr Informationen und einem besseren Überblick über das gesamte Schloß). Ich war dort schon einmal vor ca. 20 Jahren und hatte von diesem Besuch nicht mehr viel im Gedächtnis. Also schnell mal nachschauen, wo es langgeht und ab geht die Post.

Es war leuider nur gestattet Bilder ohne Blitzlocht zu machen und einige sind nicht besonders gut geworden :-(

But I also did welcoome the daytrip. A visit on castle Lauenstein (here you will find an English language link with more information and an better overview about the complete castle). I was there the last time 20 years ago and had not really much in mond of it. So fast look into the map and go away. It was forbidden to make pictures with flash so that some of the pictures are not the best quality.

Der Weg vom Parkplatz zum Schloss war sehr steil. Nun ja, auch die Anfahrt da hinauf hatte es schon in sich...

The way from the park place to the castle was very steep. Sure also the part we drove with the car...

Aber einmal durch das Tor hat man einen schönen Blick auf diese kleine Burg.

Bevor man aber ins Innere der Burg gehen kann, gibt es außen rum noch eine Art Wall, wo es früher mal ein Hotel und eine Gaststätte gab. Schade, dass das nicht mehr dafür genutzt wird :-(

Before you can go inside the castle outside is a kind of rampart where was in former times a hotel and restaurant. Sad that it will no longer used for that. 

Die Rückenlehnen der Bänke haben alle ein anderes Muster eingeschnitzt.

The back of the benches have all a different pattern carved.

 In 1896 this castle was bought from the brothers Gustav and  Ehrhard Messmer and was extended and restaureated from them in this and the following years completely.

In 1962 the Free State of Bavaria bought it and refurbished it.

Ab hier durften Bilder nur noch ohne Blitz gemacht werden und manche Bilder sind nun nicht so scharf, wie ich dachte.
From here pictures were only alowed without flash and so some of them were not so sharp as I thought :(

Gleich im Zweiten Raum, indem nicht viel an Mobiliar steht, findet sich ein kleiner Schrank. Wenn man ihn öffnet, ist es ein normaler Schrank, aber wenn man die Rückplatte auch öffnet, taucht dahinter ein Geheimgang auf, durch den man alle Etagen erreichen kann.

Directly in the second room that looks very empty a small closet can be found. If it will opened are some clothes in. But if you open the backside plate a secret path is seen on which you can come in each floor.

So ziemlich jeder Raum hat Nischen oder Erker, in denen Ausstellungsstücke stehen. Hier Ritterrüstungen und alles, was ein Ritter sonst noch so braucht. So eine Rüstung wiegt im Schnitt 40kg, darunter getragen wurde ein Kettenhemd und unter diesem ein Lederwams. Die Waffen schauen nicht nur riesig aus, sie sind auch fast komplett aus Eisen. Nein, ich möchte kein Ritter gewesen sein ...
Approximately any room has niches or oriels where old pieces were shown. Here armors and all what a knight needs too. Such armor has a aweight of 40kg. Under that  was weared a chain mail and under this a Jerkin. The weapons are not only big, they are also fully iron. No, I wouldn´t have been a knight...

der heilige Georg, der Drachentöter ist der Linke. Wer der rechte sein soll, hab ich schon wieder vergessen.

Eine typische Wohnstube soll das sein. Ich würde sagen, keine aus einem einfachen Volk. Tatsächlich eine Wohnkammer eines Burgbewohners. Das Bett ist ein Doppelbett. Die Menschen waren zu der Zeit im Schnitt nicht größer, als 1,65m. Von der Größe her hätte ich also gut dahin gepasst :-)
A typical living room that should be. I would say, not from common people. In fact a living chamber from a castle resident. The bed is a doublebed. The people in this time were not larger than 1,65m. From the size I was suitable for then :-)

Überall in der Burg findet man geschnitze Stühle, die alle eine bestimmte Bedeutung haben. Dies ist, wenn ich mich richtig erinnere, der Besucherstuhl. Er soll wohl daran erinnern, dass der Besucher wirklich nur zu Besuch ist und nicht ewig bleiben soll.
Always in the castle are chairs with carved backsides which have all an importance. This is, if I remind right, the visitors chair. It should remind that the visitor does not  has to stay too long.

Und im Erker etwas für mich. Ein Webstuhl, eine Haspel, ein Spulrad, ein Flachsbrecher und ein Spinnrad. Fehlt eigentlich ein Hechelbrett, dann hat man alles, was man braucht, um aus Dem Leinbündel vorne rechts einen fertigen Stoff auf dem Webstuhl zu produzieren.Wir sind durch die Schlossführung mehr oder weniger durchgerannt worden. Aber das Spinnrad ist tatsächlich das gleiche, wie meine kleine Ziege. Die gleichen Glöckchen unten dran und in den Speichen die Klapperringe. Da muss man schon fleißig in die Pedale treten, damit das ruhig läuft...
And in the oriel something for me. A loom, a reel, a spool wheel a flax breaker and a spinning wheel. Only missing a heckle board than a workshop to make a fabric from the flax in the right front edge is complete.
We were more run through the castle. But the spinning wheel is really the same than my last little goat. The same shells under the bar and also the small rings in the wheel. You must hurry kick the pedals that it spinning is silent...

Der nächste Raum ist voller Schlösser und wo und wie sie aussehen und eingesetzt werden. Und ein Riesen-Uhrwerk, das noch funktioniert, aber nicht mehr im Einsatz ist, weil sich wohl niemand findet, der es täglich aufziehen will.
The next room is full of old locks and it will shown, how they look and where they were used. And a great clockwork that stuill works but no more used as they have nobody to maintain it each day.

Mehr Räume mit verzierten Truhen, Schränken und Türen. Alles, was nicht geschnitzt ist, ist mit Intarsien bemustert. Wunderschöne Handarbeit.

More rooms with decorated chests, boards and doors. All what is not carved is inlayed. Beautiful handcraft.

Zur Zeit der Gebrüder Messmer wurden einige Räume als Besucherzimmer vermietet, um so einen Teil der Restaurierungskosten wieder zurück zu bekommen. Wieder in einem Erker versteckt: eines der Besucherbetten.
In teh time of brothers Messmer some of teh rooms were used to hire it to vistitors to get back a little of the refurbishment costs. Again hidden in an oriel: a vistitors bed.

Die meisten Türen und Decken sind nicht nur aus Holz, sondern auch mit Mustern versehen. Das Deckenmuster wiederholt sich in der Tür (oder andersrum), allerdings ist die Technik der Ausführung eine andere. Diese hat mir gut gefallen, wäre auch mal ein hübschen Patchworkotiv...
The most doors and ceilings are not only from wood the pattern on both repeats each other. But the technic of making is different. This one I liked. Would be an interesting pattern for a patchwork project...

Und der Eingang zum Geheimgang in dieser Etage: gut versteckt im Muster der Wandvertäfelung.
And the entrance to the secret path in this floor: hidden in the wall wainscoting.

Im dritten Stock ist das Betzimmer. Rundum ist die Wand bemalt mit Bildern aus der Jesusgeschichte. Alle habe ich nicht fotografiert, so heilig bin ich nicht, und die Geschichte ist ja bekannt. 
In the 3rd floor the bet room. Around the wall is painted with scenes from the Jesus story. All i did not make a picture as I´m not so holy and the story is known.

Für mich viel interessanter: wieder schön beschnitzte Stühle: 

Nicht fotografiert: der dicke Herscherstuhl, 

(wenn man davor steht) links daneben, der für die Ehehfrau, 

rechts daneben der für den hauseigenen Priester 

und in der Ecke am anderen Ende der für den Armen Sünder.

More intersting for me: again nice carved chairs:

and in the other edge of the room for the poor sinner

Auch hier: die verlängerte Maria. Sie war wohl nicht groß genug und wurde irgendwann auseinander gesägt, was dazwischen gepackt und wieder verkleidet. Man muss schon genau hinschauen, um das zu sehen.
Also here the streched Maria. She maybe was not great enough. Sometimes she was cutted and with some pieces between new closed. You  must have a good eye to see it.

Und als letztes etwas, das bisher nur vom lesen kenne: ein Stundenglas. Wenn ich es richtig verstanden habe, zeigt es immer eine volle Stunde an. Ob die Zylinder nun mit unterschiedlich viel Sand gefüllt sind, so dass jeder bei einer weiteren viertel Stunde leer war, kann ich nicht sagen, es ging schon wieder weiter :-( 
Es wurde wohl aber nur bei den Gottesdiensten verwendet und nicht als genereller Zeitmesser, um dem Priester zu sagen, wann er mit predigen endlich fertig werden sollte. Oder, wenn es ein bezahlter Gottesdienst war, dass er noch nicht fertig war. Hier kann man dann wirklich sagen: Zeit ist Geld :-)
And as last something I only read about it: an hourglass. If I understand it right it shows always a full hour. Of is in the 4 glasses are diffenrent quantity of sand that all 15 minuts another is empty I don´t know. We had to run away :-(
But it was used at the worship. It should show the priest when it was time to finish. Or, if it was a paid worship that the time was not yet out. Here you really can say: time is money :-)

Damit war die Führung aus und wir sind noch einmal links um das Haus gegangen, um zu schauen, was es dort noch zu sehen gab.

With this the visit was finished and we went left side around the house to see what´s happen there.

Irgendwo dort auf der Wiese saß ein Riesenkater, der mir stracks hinterher gerannt ist, als ob ich ihm gehöre. Kaum bei mir angekommen trampelt er mir auf den Füßen rum und wollte mich wohl adoptieren. Da hätten wohl meine Mädels was dagegen gehabt.

Somewhere in the meadow sat a big cat  and run after me as I was his. Soon at me he trample on my feet and would adopt me. I believe my girlies were not really happy with this.

Ein schöner Besuch und der Engel war traurig, dass wir wieder gegangen sind. Ich war traurig, weil so viele der vorhandenen Möglichkeiten dort leer stehen und nicht genutzt werden.

It was a nice visit and the angel was sad that we left. 

I was sad that so many of the existing possibilities are empty and were not used.
